How is the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) used in car washes?

Communication with the car wash is possible thanks to numerous sensors that send data to the controller – the car wash's computer. Our use of the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) in car washes gives the owner many possibilities. By connecting your car wash to the internet, you can make use of all of them.

It is not just about checking the car wash's technical or business parameters. You can also perform many tasks remotely, such as changing chemical dosing or opening hours, or checking the car wash's turnover on a given day. You do everything you need with easy-to-use tools such as the Carwash Manager remote car wash management system and VNC remote access to the car wash controller.

An additional benefit for the owner is access to an extensive system of notifications and alarms, which offers many diagnostic options and makes day-to-day management easier. Predictive maintenance – a concept well known in industry, meaning the ability to anticipate failures – also comes into play here. The car wash sends you an e-mail notification, so you can react early enough to avoid, for example, unnecessary downtime.

What kind of internet connection is best for a car wash?

You can connect a car wash to the internet in several ways:

fixed line
radio (wireless) internet
mobile network internet

The most recommended option, which ensures a stable connection, is a fixed line. However, depending on the location of the car wash, this option is not always possible.

Whichever connection you choose, remember that you will also need a SIM card with a static public IP address. Not every provider offers one as standard, and you may have to pay an extra fee for this service.

To connect the car wash to the internet you will also need a router with port forwarding and 1 LAN port.
