Interview with Mariusz Kuczyński

An interview with Mariusz Kuczyński, owner of a 3-bay PRO container car wash in Kościan, Poland.

BKF: Could you say a few words about your company, Pryzmat? What is the history of the business? Mariusz Kuczyński: Pryzmat has been on the market since 2004. We started by selling solid fuels, which remain our main line of business to this day. We also specialise in selling bottled gas, buying recyclable materials and transport services. Looking for new opportunities and prospects on the local market, I decided to branch out and build a touchless car wash.

BKF: Where did the idea for a car wash come from? How did it all start? MK: The idea came from local demand for such a service and the growing number of cars. In Kościan there was no car wash offering customers brush washing and card payments.

BKF: What did you pay attention to when choosing a manufacturer, and what advice would you give future investors? MK: I paid most attention to the technology used in BKF car washes and the wide range of additional options to choose from. I met representatives of many car wash manufacturers, but the BKF car wash made the biggest impression on me.

BKF: Why BKF? What made you decide? MK: A BKF car wash offers customers top-quality washing agents and equipment that lets them wash their car to a high standard.

BKF: What did the implementation look like – the stages, and how did the cooperation with BKF go? MK: Collecting the documents and permits for the car wash took the most time – 9 months – while building the car wash itself took only 4 months. On BKF's side, the implementation and construction went very quickly and smoothly.

BKF: What is the configuration of your car wash, and why did you choose it? MK: I opted for a three-bay configuration of the PRO container car wash. I chose it for its rich equipment, very attractive look and the functionality of the devices available to customers.

BKF: Which car wash add-ons did you choose? MK: The main elements I paid special attention to were the brush, which does not scratch the paintwork but cleans the dirt off thoroughly thanks to soft horsehair bristles, and card payments, which no other car wash in Kościan offers. They are the perfect complement to touchless washing.

BKF: Which location did you choose for your car wash, and why? MK: I had an unused plot in the town centre, where our car wash now stands. In my opinion it is a good location, because there is no other touchless car wash nearby and traffic on this street is very heavy.

BKF: How long has the car wash been running and what does day-to-day operation involve (how much time a day does looking after it take)? MK: The car wash has been running since 2017 and is very popular with customers, who trust it.

BKF: How, in your opinion, should a car wash be looked after? MK: Anyone who owns a car wash knows it needs a lot of care. You have to check the chemical levels, make sure the vacuum cleaners are not clogged, check the number of coins in the money changer and top it up when needed.

BKF: Do you use our innovative car wash management system, Carwash Manager? MK: Of course! Connecting the car wash to the internet makes things much easier for me. At any time I can check the car wash's turnover and the chemical levels in the tanks. I can see the number of coins in the money changer, top up customers' cards and get information about the condition of the equipment. All this information is available in Carwash Manager, which makes it easy to manage the car wash remotely wherever I am – at home, in the garden or out of town.

BKF: What benefits do you see in working with BKF? MK: After a year of working with BKF, I have to say it is a professionally prepared company that offers help and advice in planning the construction of a car wash. Thanks to the regional director, Krzysztof Rutkowski, our cooperation has borne fruit and we are now collecting the documents for, and building, another BKF car wash.

BKF: What challenges do you face on the local market? MK: The only challenge is to win as many customers as possible. The BKF car wash is a very good car wash, so this has not been a problem. Customers who have washed their car with us even once keep coming back.
